This one was a bit of an artistic challenge.
Someone asked me to make a drawing of a cactus, purely based on the scientific plant description from 1920, which didn’t include a picture.
I am a cactus collector myself, so I know a bit about what kind of plants are to be expected in the described habitat, but still, I had to go with my intuition for a big part of it.
The result was drawn with a fountain pen, using a waterproof sepia ink, and colored in watercolor and gouache with a touch of colored pencil on top.
All this on Canson multimedia paper.
