Can not open interactive G'MIC on Mac due to x_colorize missing

When trying to use colorize G’MIC filters interactively with Krita 5.2.9 (freshly installed) on MacOS 15.2 and M3 chip, I get error *** Error in ./fx_colorize_interactive/*repeat/*substitute/x_colorize/ *** Command ‘x_colorize’: No display available.

Does anyone know how to resolve or should I post a bug?

Same error happend on Intel Mac,Krita5.2.9,MacOSX 10.14
G’MIC version:3.5.0
However, I’m not sure whether to due to Krita’s bug or a G’MIC’s bug.

How to recreation it

  1. From Krita menu, Filter > Start G’MIC - Qt
  2. Search the filter Black & White > Colorize[Interactice]
( Leave the filter settings as default )
  3. click the Apply button or OK button
( I tried all patterns of the input layers )

I expected Interactive window and color selector open, but error message dialog opend a following.

*** Error in ./fx_colorize_interactive/*repeat/*substitute/x_colorize/ *** Command ‘x_colorize’: No display available

Such as error happened on many G’MIC filters with need interactive window
For eaxample

  • Colors > Color Mask [Interactive]
  • Colors > Curves
  • Contours > Extract Foreground [Interactive]
  • Deformations > Morph [Interactive]
  • Deformations > Warp [Interactive]

Then one of you should report it in the Bug Tracker and the other should confirm that bug report. Here you can read up how a bug report should look like:

Thanks for reporting this, however from Halla’s reply it seems like this is currently a difficult issue for Krita.

But there seems to be hope. The new G’MIC version is planning an SDL port.

SDL also has an implementation that run on OSX, so G’MIC filters that use interactive windows could work on Mac too!
