Hi @Alyssa_Polizzi. The “Select Shapes Tool” is specifically for moving Vector Objects (which reside on Special Vector Layers). It sounds as though what you created was drawn on a normal layer, which means the opaque areas are raster, rather than vector. So, you do need to use the Move (or Transform) tool to move the opaque area. The reason everything moves when you use the Move tool, is because Krita cannot recognize different areas of raster content on the same layer as being “separate”. So, if you need to move a specific raster drawn area on a layer, you’ll need to first draw a selection around that shape with one of the Selection Tools (see section outlined in the attached image) and then use the Move Tool to adjust it.
