• ArtViking - It’s true. I remember reading something similar on a Photoshop forum. One user complained that artwork painted in Photoshop looked different when viewed on Windows.

I did an experiment here. I have an old site from the time that used version 7.0 of Photoshop…and there was an article about colors there. I took a screenshot of the scales in Photoshop and compared it to the scales in Krita and Gimp.
Of course, this is not a “scientific” experiment 
I did it more as a curiosity. In Krita I created a CMYK file, in GIMP it was not possible, it only accepts RGB:
