Concept & Illustration V2

Hello everyone!

I made this bundle a while ago and realized i forgot to share it here :upside_down_face:

It is a complete overhaul of the previous bundle(v1.2):

• All the brushes were remade from scratch to improve the look, feel and/or performance.
• Some brushes were removed and some were changed in order to look and behave the way I intended in the beginning.
• Some of the new brushes are replicas of the brushes I liked and used the most when I was painting in Photoshop. People coming from Photoshop will recognize them and it will probably make the transition easier. It is a very “Photoshopy” bundle overall.
• The brushes with a red triangle in the icon are the first one of each category. This helps navigating through them.
• Added a few Blenders.

You can download it here.

I hope you enjoy the bundle, and let me know if you have any trouble with it

would you recommend keeping the old version or just remove it for the new one?

Humm, I would only keep the old one if there’s a brush you like and there’s nothing similar in the new one. I don’t use the old bundle anymore but each artist uses the brushes in their own way.

You can have both installed and can activate/deactivate any bundle at any time in Krita via ‘‘Settings’’ → ‘‘Manage Resource Libraries…’’ and the respective button Activate or Deactivate, or in Krita from the Brush Presets Docker:

This is such an awesome and comprehensive bundle, thank you!

I feel like this is one of those sets (like the Deevad bundle) that you could easily just use instead of the default brushes and never have to look anywhere else.

One suggestion that might be useful: I see you had a “Lite” version of the previous bundle. Something like that is really appealing to a noob like me, keeps the set from from seeming overwhelming. But maybe instead of a full other “lite” bundle, you could just have another tag in this bundle with the “top hits” (Concept V2 lite or whatever). Then it would be easy to just quickly narrow it down, and as you get accustomed to the brushes and style, you could work your way out to the full bundle.

Obviously that’d just be a bonus

Oh, also, maybe a silly thing to mention, but: I appreciate the brush thumbnail style you’ve used here. I’m not a Photoshop user (pretty new to digital painting in general), but I find the Photoshop-esque style thumbnails bit easier to scan through at a glance. It’s more abstract (in a good way), and there’s more real estate given to the effect of a given brush instead of, say, a picture of the traditional tool it’s similar to.

Anyway. Thanks again! Looking forward to playing more with these.

Thank you, I’m glad you like it.
The tag idea instead of a lite bundle is a smart one. I’ll add one if I update the bundle.

Cheers!

I actually have a related question for you, @Pyteo … how did you generate the thumbnails for these brushes? Was it a manual process or were you able to automate it in some way?

I was considering updating thumbnails for some of my other favorite brushes to use this more “Photoshop-ey” style. I quite prefer it!

Just wondering if you had any tricks or tips! I took a crack at doing it manually, but.. your icons are all so consistent and nice-looking :slightly_smiling_face:

(I was hoping Krita would have a way to automate this, but apparently not yet. Though there is a feature request that’s been open for some time!)

It’s time consuming but it’s really simple actually.

Here’s my template: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cNmaDKaEUi5M86S_TljZZ5CXfEyuiUua/view?usp=sharing

It has an assistant line. You just have to check “Snap to assistants” in you brush tool options and paint the brush stroke from maximum to minimum pressure. Export the image after that and use it as the brush thumbnail.

I usually have a .kra file per bundle for the Thumbnails(putting each stroke in a different layer).

I hope it helps
