Digital portrait 2 a part face

Thanks to some pointers from @Bleke I think I’m starting to get an idea of how digital is differten. I will keep working on the shadows and highlights to see where it goes.

I have hardly done any traditional painting, but I imagine that the process of just about the same. What’s tricky with digital, imo, is to pick the correct colour. Often the values are a lot closer than you’d imagine, sometimes so close that it’s hard to hit it in the colour selector.

One solution is to designate part of the canvas as a palette and mix colours there.

Thanks @Bleke I found (even though its cheating) you can pick the colour from your reference image. I know not ethical but helps get colour spot on… Oh I haven’t used it yet.

I don’t see any problems with that, except that you don’t get to practice choosing the correct colour yourself.

So true, thats why I didn’t do it yet… I think if I choose the colour then make swatches of mine then from the reference it might help me adjust quicker.
