Enhancements on Recorder plugin

Ah, I made a mistake, sorry.
Thanks, now I know.

The new recorder is a huge enhancement for people working on older or less powerful machines. My dear old laptop can’t handle Krita and OBS at the same time.

OBS would probably be much more efficient than the Recorder Docker… if only I had a way to set up the FPS to be 1 or below :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t see a way so Recorder recording only once per second is a better option.

Also you don’t need to cut out all the browser trips to change the music or find a better ref image :stuck_out_tongue:

Another reason to love the new recorder docker!

There is, at least I remember doing it. It’s been a while since I touched my settings, maybe it depends on the format. But I usually record to flv in case of a crash or something flv won’t get corrupted then convert afterwards. In the settings => Video, change Common FPS Values to Integer FPS and set to 1. I think it does not playback correctly sometimes in VLC but once it’s converted and I also have a ffmpeg script to speed it up to 30 fps again, it played fine as far as I remember.

yeah but playing with time having so little frames is totally out of the question. The recorder is good if your being lazy that is true. but once you edit it has so little room to edit the footage. not to mention insane values. I have 1 hour of footage in real time and I have enough frames for 1 minute, also spanning over 12.4Gb plus the render after! it is like crazy. with Tela I made 1 hour in Real Time and had 1.2Gb… problem is I can’t be lazy that is true. Regardless I am using the Recorder, comfy yes, but probably not worth it.

What does the recorder docker do, excatly, when the resolution and aspect ratio of the document being recorded changes on the fly? I quickly tested to see if the final ffmpeg export manages to even render and it did, to my surprise! However some kind of compromise must be made there since the resulting video must have specific pixel dimensions. What is it?

I ask because I’d like to record my work sometimes, but typically I start with a large canvas, do a lot of small thumbnails, crop one out and resize that to a workin resolution. I imagine that’s kind of a worst case scenario in terms of producing a single video stream

I guess you gotta hunt the biggest size from the session and scale it from there.
