There is already a tutorial when you first make your account.

That is ok, Im ironing out the problems with the software…

Plus the software does things users would seem undesirable… so to speak…

What do you mean by ironing out the problems? Do you mean you are testing it? If yes then I would suggest testing it with the official demo page. Also this is different from the old phpbb type of forum software so it is expected to be different,

Any feedback on the software specific to our implementation should go to #site-feedback category.

thank you

I mean by ironing out the problems it should be able to be done in 1 post. In Forum terms they usually write OP.

The demo link you posted is also not a working example of the forum software you are actually using, so use one that is on your hosted site for example.

for example a post may need to be posted… in order to test it. This is LIVE testing!

well this might be also considered as spamming

What exactly are you testing though? you are able to post easily, the forum has markdown support and it is pretty straight forward. There is also a tutorial at the beginning to get you accustomed to it. I request you to stop making posts just to satisfy your curiosity. This is not a demo site. The demo site that I linked is actually the same software used in this website. The demo just has a different theme. You will be able to test the posting formats there.

If you have any problem in posting then please let us know.

On any other forum I can do it in 1 post, so no. But as far as I am now in editing the OP, it should probably be “stickied”. The forum software and what its problems are is not the user’s, it is the hosters or the software developers.

The issues are minimal, but just to say there are a few ones.
Most of my testing involves editing the OP. If the software doesnt allow me to do so, then a another post is needed in order to verify a feature.

@raghukamath Sorry for the extra posts. This is not your issue. It is the software developers issue, if they desire to fix it. I am a user and this has happened before, so please bear with me.

As I have already mentioned this is a new forum software and things are different in this.

Editing OP is limited to newly joined users to stop spamming and other mischief. Once you gain trust and improve your level in the community you will gain editing capabilities. Read this thread for more information about levels.

That is why I told you to check out the demo site.

It seems you have not used the tutorial when you joined this forum. I request you to check your message. There must be a message called “Greetings” from the forum bot which will help you to understand the post format in this forum, without the need of making a post for testing.

Ok, that is fair. You mean this…https://blog.discourse.org/2018/06/understanding-discourse-trust-levels/

Do you have a thread you have tested yourself? If not, then you have not tested the software thoroughly.

You can go to your message inbox by clicking on your profile picture at the top then click on the message icon in the drop down, there you will see a message from the forum bot, you can use it to test things out.

As I said earlier, this is not a test playground if you need to test the software there are official demo websites and if you find bugs you can help the original developers by reporting them. if you find any problem while using this software here on this website make a report on #site-feedback category and we will try to solve it.

I am closing this topic for now.
