Hi!
The tablet I have doesn’t have the tilt feature, so I couldn’t try it, sorry.
OMG!!! It works!!!
The funny thing is that I didn’t even know my tablet had tilt support, there’s no single “tilt” word in the box or manual.
Ok, after browsing the web, I found out the tilt doesn’t work with the digimend kernel driver v9.
What you have to do is download the main branch and compile it, it’s very simple.
On this page you can get the branch and the instructions for compiling:
Cheers!
It sounds like the tilt support was added after product release, although it seems strange that it’s not a new revision but the earlier ones already had the capability…but the product page says “Newly added tilt recognition in H950P can help you to create more natural strokes in applications that support tilt-sensitivity.”
Exactly!
It might not have been tested correctly
, it seems they added this on July 29
Anyway, here are some comments on that and the instructions that seem to update the firmware:
https://www.arcanumex.com/huion-h950p-no-tilt-solution/
But, since the solution I posted previously only updates the OS drivers, or whatever, I won’t do nor recommend updating the firmware unless it doesn’t work otherwise.
Hahahaha, h*ck yeah! I’ll check that when I have some free time!
My tablet says it has tilt in the box, I bought it in December 2018.
It seems it was added some time after I stopped trying to make it work. Now it’s time to experiment!
So today i TRIED my Huion GT-221 PRO on my Laptop Ubuntu 19.10
just to see what happended
+Pressure worked out of box although some adjustment needed in Krita Tablet Pressure Curve
=Pen button work(left click and right click) but unchangable
-No Monitor Mapping. Cant choose what monitor to display cursor. So only single monitor mode works
-Shortcuts didn’t work
-Importantly, there’s no calibration

Hi @BumbleNova,
If you have trouble mapping the buttons, I previously posted here a solution that might work.
Cheers!
@BumbleNova please can you tell me what is Pop OS?
I bought a Q11K V2 and tried it on Ubuntu 16.04 but got nothing to work.
Are the pressure and tilt functions working correctly?
Sorry should have done some basic research before asking the above question re Pop OS.
It’s a distro, based on Ubuntu, but does a few things differently. It’s more up to date, handles drivers differently, and from what I’ve heard it’s pretty cool!
Thanks for the quick replies. I unfortunately can’t move from Ubuntu 16.04 for work reasons. I’ll try and set up a separate machine with Pop OS.
I’m an happy Ubuntu user, and it has been great. I have a windows boot as well, but it’s not at all my preference. Ubuntu is effortless and easy without many issues.
I use a Wacom Cintiq Hybrid, and it is working nicely.
I can agree, Ubuntu is a great choice if you would not want to bother with compiling kernel modules and loading them for every single kernel update. I just upgraded to 19.10 recently, and the Intuos (2019 version Small) works out of the box. I am more than sure that it would work with any of the Cintiqs too. I am curious about the Wacom One though…
I have no experience in kernels or compiling, and so far I’ve had no trouble with that. Did the regular system updates now and then, and that’s it.
I was too, and looked at the linux-wacom commits, curiously support has been added way before official launch even, if the commit date is correct:
(the X11 drivers and libwacom have commits for it too)
Nice! They make a great job then. It’s very professional.
I decided on an Wacom Intuos4 (large), I use OpenSuse Leap 15.0 with KDE.
It was plug and play.
While an old model, it just works well and works out of the box with the installed drivers.
Hi, I have an XP Pen Artist 16 pro. I’ve tried to use the digimend driver, but it doesn’t recognize the express buttons, so I’m using the XP Pen driver for Linux. I’m using Manjaro with I3.
The XP Pen driver seems to work right, the only “problem” I have is that it doesn’t allow to map a button to only “Ctrl” or “Shift” keys, but rather it has to go along any other key, for example Ctrl + S.
Also, the driver doesn’t have a section to adjust the pen pressure or calibrate it, but it does seem to me that it is already calibrated.
I hope this helps.
I’m using a XP Pen Artist 13.3v2 under Linux Debian 10
Tablet is working perfectly well, but it was a challenge to be able to have all functionalities:
- 3 click pen (nib + button up&down)
- calibration to screen
- 6 buttons working
I’m not using XP Pen driver for Linux, maybe they’ve been improved but last time (first time) I tried them, it was awful (not a real driver, you need to execute a windowed application to get the tablet working properly, and if you close window, tablet is not working anymore)
To be able to use this tablet properly on Linux, I had to use wacom drivers and build manually a specific configuration:
- Update UDEV rules
- Update xorg.conf
- Create a script to map tablet buttons at startup
Additionally, as I’m working on a multi-seat configuration (I like to be able to draw from my couch while my gf is using my computer), I have additional very specifics configuration…

I really appreciate the info, it’s still itching me to get an XP-Pen 13.3 Pro (non-Pro seems gone now anyway?).
And maybe I can find out more about the new version of the Huion Kamvas 13, it seems to be pretty identical in specs. Apparently it’s basically the Kamvas 13 Pro but with frosted protection film (like XP-Pen from what I could find out) while the pro seems to be the only one with etched glass out there, but hard to get details.
But either way, seems like a good deal of fiddling would lie ahead of me, unless I rely on that exotic (and not exactly trustworthy) “driver” application of XP-Pen that needs to be running in the background. They’re all using UC-Logic controller hardware AFAIK, but of course firmware handles the buttons differently for each model.
And one more thing I’m not really sure about, being a left handed person, I’d want to rotate it by 180° so the buttons are not in the way, but can this be set up properly with any of the available drivers?
