How to figure this out? 🤔

To draw a cube accurately, you first need to draw the orthographic views accurately, then you need to draw the perspective grid accurately, they you need to transfer the orthographic views to the perspective grid accurately.

You can not do the above freehand as you are discovering. Look carefully and you will see the angles in your drawing are incorrect.

The x,y, z axis should be 90 degrees.

You need to use tools like rulers, protractor, ellipse templates, so you may as well use the latest tool, which is 3d software.

10 blender default cubes. All the same size. The size and shape of the cube does not change. Our perception of them does as they recede into the distance.

3d software uses complicated mathematics to imitate our perception.

Thank you for your feedback again!! :+1:

I am aware that these lines are not 100% accurate. What I am well aware now, is that if I have to go accurate and use rulers- I will be able to draw a perfect cube. And tilted cube.

To have an idea/ and understanding how perspective works, is for me more important.

And I did not have that before I have started this topic.

It’s good that you worked it out yourself, that’s the best way to remember it.

In fact, drawing a perfect cube in perspective is not easy.
So out of curiosity, I watched some videos on YT about: “how to draw a perfect cube in perspective.”
There are techniques for doing this.
Drawing using some of the techniques I saw (there were two) in Krita (or another app) can be a bit boring, even with several tools to help. Drawing on paper with real rulers seems more practical.
I would love to see a class by M. C. Escher on this subject

In reality, the railway tracks will never meet as they are always parallel to each other. Our brain thinks they converge to a vanishing point.

This is why you see distortion on many 2d drawings. VP’s only exist in our minds.

Yes, you’re right. Moreover, all these promising tools in drawing are an excellent tool to help you set out your plans, but by no means the basis of the basics. If you draw strictly following these rules, the drawing will not be natural, too broken for our perception.

I missed the heat of this topic, but the puzzle with these cubes got to me, and I sat down at my tablet in an attempt to solve it.

Я пропустил разгар этой темы, но головоломка с этими кубами меня задела, и я сел за планшет в попытках решить её.

Yeah! It seems like we had an interesting topic to discuss and we came to a conclusion and we learned from it- what more to wish, hm?! Thank you so much all to participate and sharing your knowledge!:+1::saluting_face:
