Day 55. I’m not feeling really great tbh. And it’s really late so I’m tired. I won’t lie. I drew this in like 1 minute to just upload, don’t want to lose the consistency.

See ya tomorrow, hopefully will be a better day and maybe have more time to draw at least something not SO boring.

So I know this goes against everything every other artist recommends but I think you were right on from the beginning with tracing.

There was a movie I watched when I was younger called Karate kid, where the teacher made the kid paint his fence and wax his car. Turns out, the motion of waxing and painting were the same motions he used in karate. After weeks of waxing and painting, his muscle memory was so well developed that he could perform the moves without even thinking about it.

When you trace images, you’re training your eye to see and training your hand to draw what you see. I think tracing trains your hands to follow the shape you are looking at. Doing that over and over again embeds the habit of making the right strokes instead of the wrong ones. Otherwise you’re training yourself to continue making the same mistakes.

You’re doing great. Your showing progress over a short period of time. You’ll be a good artist because you’re willing to keep at it. Try tracing. Trace photos. It’ll teach you to draw from life and give you good eye - hand coordination. If you don’t feel like it’s helping then stop, but I think it’ll help.

Eventually, after you get good at drawing what you see with your eyes, you’ll get good at drawing what you see in your mind.

Day 2 for you is still very good! Some take months before they see any progress at all. Just keep at it and progress will come!

Thank you for your words. I’ll try to do some tracing from time to time.

PS. btw I can’t see things in my mind I have aphantasia.

That’s right, I read that but I have a horrible memory lol. Double kudos to you for working to overcome your challenges!

Day 57. Lately I’ve been drawing without any real direction and I have no Idea what I’m going to draw until I see a common shape or something that reminds me to anything.
I don’t really have time lately either that’s why I’m not drawing that much. I hope one of these days I have enough time to draw a little more patiently.
