KDE NEON: stepped pressure response with Wacom Cintiq

@hulmanen It is persistant, even after unplug for a long period (3, 4 month) and testing/reinstalling another distro. I did it only once for my 13HD. I’m curious if it is on a sort of ROM, or if it is dependant of a small battery inside the device.

OK, to close out (hopefully) this sad saga, I took the plunge and bought a Cintiq Pro 32.

It’s the pen(s) apparently. Same issue with this new Cintiq. No issue with the pro pen that comes with it, but of course that doesn’t have rotation so I feel hamstrung if I try to use it.

I don’t know what to think about this, but I suppose I have to believe both of my Art Pens have failed in the exact same way. The pressure response is bad with those. I wonder if there’s some kind of design flaw that causes them to crap out after a time. I’m considering buying a new one to see if it works, I can always return it if it doesn’t. But after all this I have to say I’m much less sanguine about Wacom’s products than before. Not that there are any quality alternatives I’ve seen.

One thing that did go away was the blobs I got in Windows with the Art Pen. So I guess I was right about that being some kind of driver/windows tablet issue.

Maybe it’s related to your habit of walking around with the styluses in your pocket?

If you have jeans or some other tight trousers there can be quite a bit of bending force on long objects in pockets when you sit down.

I mean, maybe! Who knows. Good point… I don’t tend to wear tight clothing though. Still interesting that the pressure response feels exactly the same - both pens seem to be unable to register values lower than 900 or so ( it should go from 0 to 8196). If it was some kind of mechanical failure I’d think they’d behave a bit differently pen-to-pen. But then again, what’s that saying about eliminating the impossible and being left with the truth, however unlikely?
