Krita 5 packaged for Arch Linux doesn't provide GMIC

I never noticed any difference in performance or anything and I use Arch daily and Applmages too. Might be possible that it takes a fraction longer to start the application but it’s not like I’m restarting Krita every second.

By the way, did you actually run some tests or is it just gut feeling because I never seen anyone complain or any article about Applmage performance being worse.

At startup, an appimage mount a file system in /tmp and uncompress archive content before executing binaries
it took some time, duration is variable, according to appimage size content

but on my side, for krita, it’s 5~10seconds
Once launched, there’s no difference in performances

All arch based distro are pulling their krita package from official Arch repo, and the current package build file seems to point to source code in the following link, does this zipped source still valid and include all krita source with any script that pull gmic and embed it while building ?

In the tarball there is a folder for 3rd party plugin -

There you can see how GMIC is fecthed. The cmake file shows it is fetched from this tarball - https://files.kde.org/krita/build/dependencies/gmic-3.0.0.1-patched.tar.gz

The CMAKE files are open you can view them on Graphics / Krita · GitLab

Our CI system is also open they can refer to it too.
