Why don’t you try some stable distribution. Neon is meant for development . Try normal kubuntu.
I have no real reason to use Neon really. it is just the one I fond more pretty overall. When I saw it was from KDE I was like. Krita KDE… I guess it makes sense, let’s do that.
But will not kubuntu not have the same issues as Neon is having with the Nvidia drivers? I guess there is no harm in giving it a try though.
You could try it on live usb before installing
Hi
If it’s just to build Krita, a better solution could be to use a virtual machine.
No hardware problem with a VM ![]()
Under windows I think the simplest way to work with VM is VirtualBox
I don’t know.
On my side, I didn’t encountered real problem with hardware from years now… ![]()
This point is not clear to me.
Are you talking about a BIOS or UEFI?
If computer have a BIOS, there’s normally nothing to do for Linux.
With UEFI, it’s different, because of Secure Boot, a **** implemented for some proprietary OS, some Linux distro can have some problem…
After if you’re talking about other configuration settings in BIOS/ or UEFI, I’m curious to know what you have to change… ![]()

I don’t know much about it but it is through the bios that you access the UEFI you want to use for the boot. and the type of boot you want to do no?
After I disabled “secure boot” the server appeared. things seemed good I guess but there was not much of change on the actual color thing I assumed I have something wrong still.
Regardless I decided to try kubuntu out after seeing a review and it seemed nice in the video. but dr. konqi does not stop spamming me. I only got him in the trail o neon here he is on the full install too for stuff like dolphin and the power button. irritating. not being able to turn off the machine is a bit of the downgrade I will try other distros if i have any luck.
P.s. damn Ubuntu is still so ugly nope. Reinstalled kubunto now no konqi? If it works I will use it or I will go to neon again.
Kubunto really has some features that make everything look more normal than Neon. I might be using this for a while for sure. I think I did something on the first install that made dr. Konqi spam me like crazy what I did I am not even sure. the embeded driver manager seems alot better too, since it can see what hardware your using and detect the drivers.
For kubuntu @Deevad has a nice guide you can take a look maybe you will get some hints and tips there - Kubuntu Linux 20.04 for a digital painting workstation: Reasons and Install guide. - David Revoy
