Fabulous, @Katamaheen!
Thank you, @sooz! ![]()
I’ve decided to do two entries this month.
The first one is more about a dream - a dream of wrathful solar winds helping to travel through endless space, still as dangerous as the sea during the time of the Great Geographical Discoveries.
The second one is more realistic, with the Wrath of the Sun scorching and burning out plants and the Earth itself. Nothing can withstand this fury.
This is fantastic @Katamaheen !!!
@I_J10 Thanks! ![]()
I love everything in this picture its brilliant!

Title: Wrath of the Desert Sun
The Sun, since the beginning of time, has left us reminders of the harsh mistress she can be if not respected.
There are several components to this composition. Some stark, some whimsy. Some you might recognize from times past, others perhaps not. You’ll have to look for them and decide for yourself.
You are such a fantastic artist. I really like your work. I just submitted my own entry which I just this moment discovered is similar in concept to your own. You do great work.

Title: Wrath of the Sun God - Ra
In Egyptian lore, there are many gods. Some create life and circumstance, such as Ra, the ‘Sun God’ who brings the light, and Hapti, the ‘Goddess of the Nile and Fertility’. Others serve as guides, such as Anubis, God of ‘Funerals and Embalming’, and Osiris, ‘God of the Afterlife and Rebirth’. Still others, like Set, the God of ‘Storms and Lightning’, and the serpent god Apophis, bring chaos, destruction, and darkness.
Here, the serpent god Apophis lurks in the Underworld, attempting to devour the sun and plunge the world into eternal night. Ra unleashes his wrath in his battle against Apophis, driving back the darkness restoring light to the world for another day.
Hi everyone!
Here’s my entry.
The Sun has turned into a red giant and is absorbing the Earth’s atmosphere and vaporized water, as the planet is slowy falling into the star… ![]()
Significal changes since the WIP: I greatly enhanced the solar corona with brush strokes, added the Moon and the attraction force it should exert on the atmosphere that is falling into the star, which makes it look much less like a weird straight beam! Also changed the blending mode to Color Dodge for that atmosphere thing… I hope I managed to make the scene more natural and spectacular than it was in the WIP. ![]()
Overall, I played with and learned a lot about blending modes, filters and the use of patterns while making this and it was a lot of fun! ![]()
@Corentin Awesome texture in the sun. Looks firey and seething. ![]()
Thanks @Elixiah!
The texture in the Sun was actually the easiest part to do: it’s the “drawed swirl” pattern with the Overlay mode. But the catch is, if you simply make a fill layer with it on such a big area, you have a lot of small repetitions of that pattern and it makes very visible squares, so I transformed the fill layer into a normal layer, cut out just 1 of those squares and expanded it! ![]()
Nicely done! And that wood detail is so good ![]()
