Monthly Art Challenge – September 2024 – Topic: “Traditional Refreshments and Snacks”

This is my entry for September 2024, an apple pie. I was inspired by one of my pictures and while painting I realized that it has been awhile since I made one.

You know, I just need to get this off my chest. I’m actually really upset about this month’s topic!

There are so many awesome entries, the refreshments have looked so amazing… and because of that I’m thinking that’s a major contributing cause to my weight gain this month! I mean, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes and pies, chips, marshmallows, and hot chocolate… I’ve had the munchies all month! :slight_smile:

At least @Corentin was helping me with my pain. I did make it a point to grab some apples at the store the other day.

Seriously though, this months submissions all look really great! It was a fun challenge, a delectable topic, and y’all hit it outta the park!

Here’s the challenge I’ve come up with ^-^
Please do tell if somethings unclear or confusing and i’ll try to clarify it

“Buried, Stuck, or otherwise Swallowed”

  • The idea here is that your main subject should be under or inside of something;
    (So something like: Debris, Mud, Snow, Sand, Mountains, Trash, Clothes, Rocks, Cats, etc.).
  • The main subject may be anything: living or not-living; big or small;
    (an Animal, a Corpse, a Building, a Cup, etc.).
  • The main subject should be covered by the something but have enough key elements be visible so as to be recognizable.

The aim here is to convey a sense of immobility by only showing a portion of the subject. The immobility presented may be one showing distress, peace, wonder, intrigue, etc.

As for the optional challenge: since “Uzumaki: Spiral Into Horror” has just started airing, try to somehow incorporate a spiral or two into your piece. It can be as either a compositional element or as an actual object in the piece (though it doesn’t have to be a prominent feature)

Sorry this took a while; the wording on the third bullet point was a tough one to get right.

Wow, I’m gonna have to crank up my rusty imagination for this one! :laughing:

I imagine a twitching mouse tail, curling into and out of a spiral shape, dangling out of the side of a cat’s closed mouth.
