Very good mannequins :+1: I’m grinding the same thing at the moment.

I realized that the problem for me was that my knowledge of the basic anatomy was too vague, I didn’t have the firm proportions in mind, or where exactly a given body part begins. Without having a good grasp on the 3D forms you’re trying to depict, it’s easy to make a mistake and the whole things starts to fall apart. What’s worse, you have no chance of correcting it either, it’s just guessing.

Thank you! And yeah, I can still barely wrap my head around how it is all supposed to work, but simplifying everything into cylinders and boxes seems to be a good starting point. Trying to get these basic forms to be second nature, so that I can (hopefully) draw more complicated forms more easily.

Hi there, great work on the practice pieces :+1:. I can definitely see the improvement.

I think the simple figure is great conditioning practice so artist can judge on how humanoid figure should look given certain perspective.

From my own experience the ability to detect weird looking limbs or out of proportion objects are not just come from analyzing a bunch of pictures but to really making full observation of it, then do re-calculation in our brain, and then putting it back on paper/whatever medium we chose. The transfer process from what we see to what we draw will introduce new variables that will slightly change the result from what the ref looks like. If the artist can adapt to the newly introduced variable/complications and still make the drawing looks good, then that just prove they are improving and have control of what they are drawing.

Sorry for the long paragraph, was a bit frustrated seeing some people miss the point of redrawing stuff, or drawing simple mannequins (edit: not frustrated by people from this forum, but from other place like some discord server or youtube comments).

Thank you for sharing, it makes me want to practice more.:+1:

Glad to hear that! And, I agree with what you said about making full observations of things.
