A thing that annoys me a bit with Krita on a Mac, is the fact that for certain operations I have to pick colors using the system color selector instead of a native color selector. This is cas when I want to edit a swatch directly, when I want to set the color for a fill layer and perhaps other situations as well.

This is not very helpful for several reasons:

- The color mode of the system is not neccesarily the same as Krita, so colors created with the system color selector tend to look different in Krita. This makes picking colors a bit of guesswork and back and forth.
- I can not use the more refined controls to create a color that Krita offers, which seems unneccesary.
- I can not use my swatches to pick a color (for a color fill for instance)

I hope my issue has been clearly explained and would love some feedback on this front.

Thanks!

Thanks to other Mac users you seem to have to live with this…
…it musst have been before I got deeper into Krita or this forum that many Mac users have asked for exact this behavior.

Why they dislike Krita’s native solution I don’t know, but if asked I would say: “This is because Mac users are convinced that everything is better on the Mac.”, and think for myself: “Well, that’s where the elitist attitude falls on your feet.” 😉

I don’t think the dev’s are willing to turn the screw back again, but I’m no dev, perhaps you got luck with your request.

Maybe Possibly @halla can tell you more.

Edit/Add: But that wasn’t your fault!

I guess you could use pigmento and by pass everything.

It was discussed some time ago, and should be available in 5.1

Edit: Oh, but this cannot switch between “native” and “system” color selector in the same session.

I only want the native color selector, not the system one, so that would be no problem for me.

I have no experience with this, is it a plugin?

yes, it’s a krita plugin to select colors.
