I uploaded this tutorial recently, which is pretty beginner friendly. It covers the layers docker and then some fundamental production art worfklows from my time working in the games industry. For you pros out there, I think the only advanced takeaway is Layer Files for modular texturing.
I teach digital painting at a college and I’ve been pushing Krita on my students for years now (Photoshop is held as “standard” in schools, which of course isn’t true for all!). So I decided to take my entire curriculum and translate it over to Krita and put it up on YouTube.
Anyway, hope this helps someone out there- or serves as an easy link to shoot around to someone who is just beginning their Krita journey. I have a bunch more on the way
This is a really well done tutorial! Personally I wasn’t aware of the file layers in Krita, learned something new! Thank you for this tutorial, looking forward to more
Thank you for doing this and making it all available.
I notice your profile has information about your personal website and I’m sure that will be interesting for many people.
Hey @SourPlanet thank you very much for posting this. And also making these videos. One question, which version of Krita you are using is it the latest stable release. I am asking because I do not see check boxes in your layer stack. So it might be a good idea to add this info somewhere so people do not get confused. Krita keeps changing from time to time as new options are added and adding this info will help
Until .1 version ago at least the selection checkboxes can be hidden by clicking on the menu for the docker (at the side of opacity) > Checkbox for Selecting Layers, so technically the GUI in his video might still be up to date.
Still worth noting this in the description though.
