 Hello @Stranger_Danger, and welcome to the forum!

It is all up to you, and about your will to do it. If you want to get an impression about the things that are possible with Krita, take a look in our category Finished Artworks - Krita Artists and if you like animations, look here Animations - Krita Artists.

For digital painting, there are not so many good, capable programs, but Krita belongs to the best you can get. And this is mainly because of its brush-engines, but as always every software has its strong and its weak points, so photo-editing is something I would not usually do with Krita when it comes to in deep editing, there you better choose GIMP or PS, but if you’re a GIMP or PS user and want to paint, then you better choose Krita.

@Stranger_Danger Krita is amazing! I developed retina problems a number of years ago that prevent me from working with traditional media and, while I’ve made my living with Adobe Illustrator, I was never comfortable enough with digital painting in Photoshop to get into it in any depth. Krita is so intuitive to use that it’s been a real godsend for me.
