✨ Sara, the OpenGameArt mascot, but in my style

The references (on bottom) and my remake (on top).

While doing a long commission for the next campaign of Framasoft, I’m still playing at the evening with doing these remakes of free and libre culture characters. I’m not sure yet what will be the next one, but I want to continue that.

Today I learned OGA had a mascot. Somehow, I never noticed her in the logo!

I love that streak of sun on the grass behind her. It doesn’t distract but looks so nice and makes the otherwise fairly vague environment look so comfy!

I don’t know why, but it looks a lot like Zelda.
Pretty good though!

My first thought was Gerudo Link… it really is reminiscent of Breath of the Wild’s style, with the colors, environment, and outfit. (And blonde elves, though that’s a common trope.)
I never noticed Sara was an elf before, but then again I’ve only heard of her and OpenGameArt because of SuperTuxKart. I guess that shows how having a mascot can raise a project’s visibility- and fanart like this, too.
