Stabilization!

Hello, i am new here so please move this post as such!
So i love Krita, however, there is 1 gripe i have, which is the stabilization. it works, but i don’t want it on all brushes and erasers, i would like a separate toggle like ibis paint x is kinda thing, i don’t mind the stability setting, i don’t want it global tho!

is there a setting i am missing? i am on latest version on pc

Brush smoothing is global but you can have ‘mode activation’ buttons on the Toolbar.

Do Settings → Configure Toolbars then in Available Actions type “Smooth” to get the following:

I’ve added Brush Smoothing Disabled and Brush Smoothing Stabiliser to my Toolbar.
If I wanted Brush Smoothing Weighted then I’d select it in the Available Actions column and click the right arrow as indicated to move it into the Current Actions column.

These are selection actions, not toggles. As far as I can tell, there is no visual feedback on the icons when you use them. You can see their effect in the Tool Options docker though.

Actually an interesting topic. Why does stabilization has to be a global thing? I’m mean, it’s a very typical thing that does not apply for all brushes. I’ve found it quite irritating on numerous occasions. Some brushes I almost always want stabilized - like inks etc. But painterly brushes or stamps? Never.

It would be nice if this was an individual brush setting.

@Troken In my case the brushes I use stabilization on are the same I don’t want it to always be on. My usage of stabilization isn’t much but I still need it every so often, so global for me is the perfect method.

It would be nice to let others who use brushes like you do have a separate setting for each brush that they can activate. We can probably easily have both in Krita.

I think stabilization comes from the tool not the brush.

I work similarly to @Dynline. I usually have stabilisation off and only turn it on temporarily on the same brush for certain lines that are giving me trouble. So the global setting works well for me.

The one thing I’ve been missing is a way to read the currently active stabilizer from Python, that way one could make a Ten Brushes script to toggle between on and off and assign that to a shortcut. (Currently you need two shortcuts, one for on and one for off.)

Then it is perfectly logical why it’s like this, thanks for the insight.
