On my side I already made some japanese text in Krita but it was more “manually vertically built” than really properly typed

Don’t know if on a japanese computer with right keyboard input method it’s easier or not :man_shrugging:

Unfortunately, Krita doesn’t have a function for Japanese vertical writing. I myself am one of those who are waiting for the vertical writing function to be implemented.

In my case, I use other software like Clip Studio only when I want to add vertical text to an image.
It is possible to force vertical writing by making a line break one character at a time, but that is probably not what your friend is looking for.
