Unusual bug: Brush snapping to a nonexistent grid

I’m going to directly copy what I said on the irc about this bug. I find it very confusing, and don’t quite know how to reproduce it.

So, here is a video of the thing that happens: https://imgur.com/a/r6Cb3oE Basically, -sometimes- and I can’t figure out what triggers that, but it has something to do with switching between files, the brush circle starts snapping to some sort of grid. The grid is NOT single-pixel-sized, and it’s NOT the same size as the one shown by “show grid” setting
the actual lines being drawn are not affected at all, ONLY the visual indicator of where I’m supposed to be drawing
Whoever the bug happens, I can turn the snapping off my changing the zoom level, and then turn it back on by switching to to a different file and then coming back.

Hi, have a look at the smoothing option in the tool options docker
https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_manual/tools/freehand_brush.html

I have, I’m not quite sure what this has to do with the problem I’m describing, could you elaborate?

Did you turn on shaprness on a 1px brush? This was to help with pixelart…

Nope, definitely not that it’s not a 1px grid. If you look at the video, you can clearly see that the circle ‘skips’ large distances, I would say it’s about 15-25 pixels. It also does not affect the actual line being painted at all.

Yeah, I have no idea what is going on here. We did change a bunch of stuff on the circle outline because of issues with graphics drivers… Could you perhaps check if it still happens on Krita:plus from the downloads page?

See, I would, if I had any idea how to reproduce the bug. It just happens randomly, I can “toggle” it on or off after I encounter it, but after I re-start the program - I have no idea what to do to bring it back.
I already asked this question elsewhere, but got no response - is there a way to remove the version number from the tab name in development versions? If I could do that, I would simply use the Plus version for my normal work, and I’d see if it comes up.

I can confirm this on Windows 10 exactly as described by Michos.
Really need other files open to go color pick on them

It sounds like this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427094

That should be now fixed in the Stable/Plus version so please try that.
