5.2.9 loading time

So i tried krita newest version which is 5.2.9. I was from version 5.1.5

But is it just me or the version 5.2.9 seems took more time to open on windows than version 5.1.5? Is it because the newer feature?

Is anyone have the same problem on windows?

Krita always opened at around the same for me (a few seconds), both on Windows and on Linux…
Mayhaps you have a big add-on to load? Like a big brush bundle, for example

Kind of, but i disabled it most of the time, does plug in affects the loading time?

Ig so
Specially if it’s the first time you’re running the newer version (since, y’know, the program is getting everything ready for future use)

My observation with Krita 5.2.9 (installed, default ressources):

After restart of PC, Windows 11, notebook (ssd, 16 GB ram, 11th gen Intel CPU).

First start of Krita up to 40 seconds.

Subsequent start of Krita = a few seconds.

Restart of PC.

First start Krita = again up to 40 seconds.

Unfortunately no older version of Krita installed to compare.

I think, those up to 40 seconds are quite long.

It’s probably because the resource database updates itself when a new version is loaded. Without it, subsequent startups of Krita would take much longer (because it would have to load every resource on start up, instead of doing it once and then storing the relevant data into the resource database).

Maybe I am missunderstanding.

That would explain why it takes long when a new version is loaded the first time. But it happens with every start of Krita after a PC shutdown. It is always Krita 5.2.9 and after every PC restart it takes up to 40 seconds to load.

Not a big issue but such long start up times are unsusual, especially if there is an ssd in the PC.

i use a laptop that quite the smilar spec as that but mine loads like more than a minute sometimes even close to 2 minutes

The issue is gone on my side.

Krita startup is now working as expected.
On the mentioned notebook the Krita startup now takes below 15 seconds if pluged in
and around 20 seconds if on battery.

There have been some Windows 11 updates the last days. Maybe that solved it.

I also tested on an old Windows 10 notebook (8th gen intel). There was no issue at all. Krita 5.2.6 and 5.2.9 have similar startup times on that one.

Only the first start after a fresh new install is taking long. On all my three PCs (very old notebook, old notebook and the desktop) any subsequent start of Krita regadless of whether the PC was shutdown inbetween is now ok.

Very strange.
