as it’s written in the krita document, ctrl+left click on image layer thumbnails would select pixels on said layer.
however, before 5.3, a ctrl+left click on the image layer thumbnail WOULD NOT select the LAYER itself. but after 5.3, on top of pixel selection, it would additively select the layer itself as if I were clicking on the layer name area instead of the thumbnail area.
not sure if it’s a bug or a feature, and I can always deselect the unwanted layer, but this is slightly irritating and rather pointless, so i wish this change be rolled back, or have ways to be toggled off?
i’m not sure if i should file a bug report, so please help.
Looks very much like a bug to me. The behavior is even worse if you enable Select → Show Global Selection Mask, since that will shift the layer list down by one and select a different layer than you clicked on. There were some fixes to make the layer list work with both Krita 5 and 6, so this is probably just something that slipped through.
Do you want to report the bug yourself? I can also do it for you when I get time, if you don’t already have an account there that might be easier.
Yes I noticed this yesterday too, this is definitely not supposed to happen.
I’m pretty sure the same change is responsible for this and bugs
It is Fix active layer changing when ctrl-clicking (!2626) · Merge requests · Graphics / Krita · GitLab
Maybe it should just be reverted, to be honest I never noticed the issue that is supposed to fix, I’m not even sure I understand the testing steps…apparently it’s supposed to prevent deseleting a layer with a Ctrl+click to make it the active layer, but it causes many more issues in exchange.
