A little nostalgia

I was moving some of my old automotive paint job files to a jump drive, and you know how you can’t keep from browsing through photos. It made me tired just thinking about all the physical work involved and the stress of deadlines and managing materials and supplies. Ugh. Now…It’s sooooo nice now to sit in a clean-smelling shop, in air conditioning, and draw on my digital art tablet with Krita on my own time. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Here’s a few of my favorites from the lacquer-urethane-fume-breathing days LOL …

Automotive painting, especially show quality, is extremely labor intensive and expensive… messy, and requires a lot of materials, supplies and safety equipment. At first, I did all the prep and finishing myself. But I wanted to concentrate more on just the actual airbrushed artwork, so I hired someone to do the prep, base color, and final clearcoats. It’s very difficult to find a reliable person to do quality work and on a deadline, even with good pay. I have painted hundreds of bikes. I’m not career-building anymore, so the stress wasn’t worth it. I still do airbrushing and paintjobs on our own vehicles if needed, but that’s about it in the automotive department.
