Woo, hoo! It just arrived! I got myself the new Huion slim pen PW550S. I wonder if it feels any better than my old one? We’ll see. Will test it in the evening.
Comes with regular and felt nibs, with felt preinstalled apparently (I prefer felt, so that’s nice):
It’s hella expensive though… I’m down to one functioning pen (my backup one tends to bug out after a while), so I thought it’d be good to have a spare one.
PS. Ugh… I guess this is borderline advertising, but maybe it helps someone who wanted to see the pens side by side
Okay, so the first impressions. It feels nice, it’s significantly less bulky, just like a normal marker or a pencil. It is also a bit lighter. This may feel more comfortable to a person who’s just switching to digital. It is a bit more slippery than a standard fat pen, but still good enough.
All in all, I think this is an upgrade, but not a super significant. I will be using it, it feels very comfortable, but probably not worth it if your existing pen works and feels fine. I have big hands, so the big pen is just fine too I didn’t notice any performance difference compared to the old PW517.
It’s worth noting though that these new pens are interchangeable with new Huion tablets. That’s really nice. I tested Giano and Inspiroy 2 M and I was able to use all three pens with both tablets (the PW550S, Giano’s PW517, and Inspiroy 2’s PW110).
If I will have any other insights, I’ll share them in time. Cheers.
I have this pen [i bought in on sale so its kinda half the price when i bought it ] i like switching from it and back.
Sometimes i want the heftier pen, sometimes i want this slimmer pen.
The heavier is more close to the barrel i use for my dip pen, while this pen is more like my microns and unipins.
