my name is Werner, and I’m a retired architect from Germany. I discovered Krita early this year. Despite my profession I’m not really good at drawing or painting realistically - not at all… But I enjoy experimenting with colours, shapes and structures - Krita seems to be perfect for this.
How do you think about abstract art? Personally I’m neither capable nor interested in creating anything naturalistic - but I have a lot of respect for those who are able to do so. And there’s an awful lot of talented and highly skilled artists around here!
So here are some of my works so far - critiques are very welcome!
EDIT: Hm, I can’t see the previews for the pics. Can you see them? Couldn’t upload directly - files too large.
EDIT2: Nevermind, seems to be a thing with Firefox. Pics are visible in IE.
I don’t think, this has anything to do with ‘smart’ at all - just a matter of taste/preference. Also, I’m a bit reluctant to call my stuff even ‘art’ - it’s fun experiments mostly.
As for the upload, I think you should scale the images down a bit first. The forum moderators don’t have infinite resources to host large images.
I resized the images for you and I have also added the link to the original version. I would also like to tell you that the original images are really big they are 11-12 mb which can be compressed to 3-4 mb without losing any image quality.
Abstract is the perfect medium to explore landscape design if you want to take a break from absolute abstract paintings…
Adding some minor realism shapes motivation as well, and it’s interesting to explore the relationship between abstract and realism. I recommend, to you the final decision

Well, I do like to play with hinting at real-world objects or sceneries. If the link becomes too obvious (for my taste), I usually break it up again - even put in some contradictions.
But who knows, one day I might get my feet wet with some realism too - not feeling confident enough yet…
