Adobe considers building NFT export directly into their products

You probably already know what I think about NFTs, how damaging they are to artists and the environment. Of course adobe is going to put it directly into their software

I’m disgusted even more by that company.

Do you have a link to a post where you explain your views on NFT’s?

What? I’m not sure that even makes sense?

A lot of topics don’t even exists anymore because they got removed by the moderators (not because of my posts though). To put it short: I’m against it and I see no benefits of NFTs whatsoever.

Fair enough. But it seems that you have stronger opinions than just not seeing benefits.

Yes, they damage the environment by wasting unreasonable amounts of energy and are a threat to artist because they encourage art theft by making it easier than ever to make money from other people’s work. And the crypto community is claiming that this actually empowers artists somehow.

I see. The energy aspect can be greatly reduced by using proof of stake blockchains instead of proof of work.

And I think the art NFT’s are just a gimmick. The real use of NFT’s will be game assets and possibly contracts and stuff like that.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised about this, I would’ve thought adobe would be wise enough to keep themselves out of this… Oh, wait, right, Twitter’s going to do NFTs, right? I guess the water main in silicon valley is poisoned.

Crypto dweebs keep repeating this like a mantra for years but no big currency actually transitioned because it’s baked in so deeply. There are other issues like only just a few big miner collectives owning more than a half of the computing power essentially controlling what is the truth in the blockchain, proof of stake will not solve this and other issues.

There may be a useful application for blockchains but it’s not art, and it shouldn’t be in games either.

It’s probably something in their cocaine.

When twitter gets the gallery feature for NFT collectables, I’m so going to write a script that blocks anyone who has it.

Being called a dweeb was not what I expected for today, but ok.

The third largest crypto currency didn’t need to transition because it was built for proof of stake from the beginning.

I don’t really care about NFT’s, but I like the concept of crypto currencies because they just might let us break free from banks.

(I get all worked up just thinking about banks! Kleptomaniac crook organizations, only good at manipulation and insults. censor)

had any known platform / provider went PoS - i read they always say they would but few really did went that route. Its like something they dangle and say they would do - but is really slow on actually doing.

The concept itself is good - but ofcourse everywhere we go, irl or online there are people who will find even the smallest way to take advantage of that.

Beside right now an artist who dont want to participate but dont want their art being taken by the thefts for NFTs has almost no avenue but to join. its like pay the mafia to protect.

I have no concensus whatsoever - im concerned with the energy cost/ environment cost but then humans wont really stop at this point it seems.

OTH NFTs tend to act very shady/ give me shady vibes - and im staying 10 foot away because of that [no other logic on it - all pure feeling of this is just not quite right yet lol]

And anyone could simply take an artwork that was already minted by the original artist and mint it again. The only winning move is not to play.

Yet the crypto market is controlled by just a few groups and values can plummet simply when Elon Musk’s has a fart stuck the wrong way.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for alternative currencies, I just don’t think crypto currencies as they exist now are the way to go.

But NFTs are making me especially angry. A lot of artists I watch already got their art turned into NFTs by strangers and there is not much you can do about it. Sometimes you can report it but the damage is already done at that point.

I just recently learned that NFT fans are a joke even in many crypto communities, which I find hilarious.

And there are even more side effects like I can’t buy certain gaming graphics cards anymore or for a reasonable price, just because some people build crypto farms with them.

And other crazy stuff like this

Theft issues aside, nft is totally bad for the buying party. A few days ago, one of my favorite CYgames artists started selling her work on nft, and the price she offered herself was 0.15eth, which was later raised to 6eth.
The point is that this is just an avatar, and if the buyer uses the money to hire the artist directly, they can get a multi-person image of their own designation with a background
And then it doesn’t comply with copyright laws, anyone can use your purchased work as they wish, or the copyright is still in the hands of the original author.
The NFT labels this image as belonging to someone, but the average person really doesn’t pay attention. When you see a well-drawn picture, you are more concerned about who the author is than who the purchaser is
In the end, all she’s selling on NFT is a JPG and not a source file! I suspect that exporting it as a png/gif is another nft …

This is certainly a hype. When there are really that many painters coming in, there is no way nft can digest it better than that many game companies. But if you have a big name, I’m not opposed to you making a lot of money with nft right now, it’s the speculators not the artists who are carrying this. If you don’t have a lot of fans, I don’t recommend you give money to nft (seems to cost a few dozen dollars for a nft?)

I wonder what Adobe’s cut is going to be.

Krita is definitely getting a cut, too. But it’s a cut of former PS users. I’ve seen a lot of artists on Twitter, already looking for alternatives and Krita gets recommend fairly often for digital painters.

So maybe at least something good is coming from this.

That’s the whole point actually and the thing why NFT bros are doing it. Buy low and sell high. That’s what most of them are in for, their benefit in NFT over regular commissions.

And it looks like the artist is selling themselves short but would they demand higher prices buyers are suddenly not interested anymore because they can’t extract enough surplus value or worse, could make a loss.

I stopped arguing with NFT people because, even when ignoring all the other factors, their last argument is always about the resell value, which shows me they don’t care about the artwork at all other than for how much they can eventually sell it.

Money/Profits are a Deadly Disease. :frowning:

Unfortunately many people need money to survive, I can kinda understand artists who join because the desperately need every cent. But the NFT community is using that despair to coerce artists into joining, not only by promising money but also by basically saying: “don’t want to get your art stolen? Join and mint it first.”
