Hello, I know most of you don’t like AI art, but I wonder if it could serve as a point of reference while drawing a new piece of art. I’m asking because I draw the below illustration according to AI suggestions and reference art.
Of course, I’m not here to promote AI art, but I want to know if it may serve as a good point of reference for artists.
Some use it, but I would never do it, simply because in AI slop you can’t be sure if your reference is correct or only may look good. Truth can only be found in real pictures. In AI slop, it is only by chance.

Generated images are full of mistakes and if you use it as reference your work will be too, especially if you’re still at the point where you don’t really know better. You also don’t know if the generated image happens to be close to someone else’s original artwork because it was part of the training data. It’s better to use actual photos, if you ask me. And there’s also an environmental cost.
