AI Slop

The world is being made anew and it’s monetised.

The video contains offensive language (quite understandably) so bear that in mind.

(Apart from the humour, there are valid points made about the effects on artists as well as ‘ordinary’ people who don’t realise what is happening.)

The truth is, AI is just one symptom of a much more serious illness that requires the courage to question the way society is devolving. The risk, as the old proverb says, is to “look at the finger and not the moon.”

Aside from that video the show is pretty good in general and John Oliver points out a lot of injustices and issues in society (mostly USA but still).

Unfortunately, I can’t follow along because YouTube, among other “improvements” is now blocking video translations. Sometimes it’s possible to leave the subtitles in Spanish, and although it’s not my native language, I can understand them. Sometimes, even that isn’t possible…

Ah if you had mentioned it was John Oliver I would’ve watched it sooner, I stopped clicking every random youtube link unless I’m really bored.

Haven’t checked the Last Week Tonight channel in a while, since Trump 2.0 basically all US news is real-life commedy :stuck_out_tongue:

Not his first AI episode though, actually the joke about his “wife” (the giant cabbage) is a reference to one of that episodes if I remember correctly.

Though it sure is getting worse…like Duckduckgo now was a switch to not show AI images, but of course it only knows about one properly labeled and reduces AI results from like 90% to a barely acceptable level that leaves enough real images to not give up immediately…though pinterest has been a pest even before AI, IMO…
