Algerian font does not appear.

On a previous version of Krita. I used the Algerian font in a drawing. In the latest version, the Algerian font does not appear. I am using Windows 7

Hello and welcome to the forum

Which version of krita did you use before and which version are you using now?

Does the Algerian font still appear in other applications that use text?
Are any other fonts missing?

It’s now a year since Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7 so the krita developers can no longer support Windows 7 systems or investigate problems with Windows 7 systems.

As far as I know Krita simply uses the system’s fonts. So when the font is not installed on you windows it’s not available for Krita.

I believe that it was the version before the current one. Not exactly sure of the specific number.

I was on the same computer when I was using the older version of Krita, when I installed the latest of Krita, the Algerian font disappeared.

Hm, then it’s probably different on windows although that would be strange. Is the font available in other programs on your PC? If not, try to install it on your computer manually.

According to this

https://www.reddit.com/r/krita/comments/6s93ai/how_to_install_fonts/

Krita just uses the Windows fonts.

Could also be the case that the license for the font expired since windows 7 is not supported anymore by microsoft since January 2020.

Yes, the Algerian font is on photoshop aswell. It is not on Krita

Okay, then I’m out of ideas. Maybe it’s an incompatibility of Krita with win7 since it isn’t officially supported anymore since version 4.0 (i think).

Ok thx for the help!

Maybe one of the devs like @raghukamath has any insights.

I am not a dev  . We can ask @tiar @halla or @dkazakov

What font type is this font? Krita doesn’t list fonts itself, we use Qt’s fontdatabase for that, but that doesn’t handle certain types of fonts like old-fashioned bitmap fonts.

Seems to be this one…

But as a ttf font, it shouldn’t be a problem to list it

@iamjustincee
Are you sure font is installed on your system?
Can you provide us a screenshot of c:\windows\fonts directory?

On my side, I had to download and install font on my old windows7 laptop, because it wasn’t available by default.
After font has been installed on system, no problem to use it in Krita (4.4.1)

As a ‘long shot’ thing, you can try running the portable .zip package of the previous version (4.4.0) or the one before that (4.3.0) from here:

You’ll need the krita-x86-4.x.0.zip for a 32-bit system or the krita-x64-4.x.0.zipp for a 64-bit system.
Extract it and go into the resulting folder and run the krita file in there.
