first time being here so idk how stuff works but im here for a question. I was drawing an artwork, it wouldnt save so i restarted krita and i see that all of my artworks are no longer in the app except for the one i was working on. I tried finding them in my or backup files which resulted in nothing (The funny thing is I found old artworks of mine so that means that they USED to save in my documents folder, well, not anymore ) So my question is is there a way to find them or are they long time gone? Im desperate because i lost 3 month worth of wips.

Because Krita itself can not delete your files, they will be on your PC. Let us now suppose that you have always used Krita’s own file format for saving your files, so usually KRA, you can search your computer for all files with that file name extension. To do so open your Explorer, select “This PC” as the search target and enter *.kra in the upper right input field for searches and then hit enter to find your files.

Krita doesn’t “save artworks in the app”. They are always saved on the file system. What you experience is probably that the recent file list is empty. The files should still be where you saved them (assuming you have manually saved them at some point). The reason why the recent files are suddenly empty could be that krita can’t find them at their last location anymore (because you or another software moved them or something).
ok soo the thing that happened is i deleted the file it located in which messed up the shortcut ( or smth like this I know nothing about files and stuff) i wanted to make create a new shortcut but then realized i could just restore the original folder. Thank you for the help !
It’s probably worth learning a few computer basics like how files and directories work what they are and what the difference to a shortcut is. Doesn’t take much time and could come in handy when something happens again.
