Anchored Brush stroke?

This is from Blender. Is this possible in Krita?

It would be useful if you could explain exactly what’s happening there :slight_smile:

It will be hard to explain :slightly_smiling_face:. This is the anchored stroke in Blender. You assign a texture to the brush and as you drag your stylus the brush scale increases from an anchored point once you drag out and then when you move the stylus around, the brush rotates around that same anchored point.

Hoping someone here uses Blender :slightly_smiling_face:

@melvi No, there isn’t anything in Krita like this.

The closest you would get is using the Clone brush, but you would have to specify the size and rotation before the dab.

@AhabGreybeard just to complement the answer above.
When you click with the mouse / touch the tablet with the pen, the texture appear. The ‘click point’ become the anchor for the texture, and dragging away from it increases the dab. While rotating around the anchor rotate the texture.

@Daishishi Thanks for the info.

It would have been nice to have such a feature though. I am wondering if Gimp has something like this.

I think something similar to Blender’s anchored brush and Z-brush’s DragRect would be a nice little addition to Krita.

edit: for those that don’t know, this functionality is present in most 3d programs that specialize in texturing on-model. It’s used to add things like decals, stickers, scratches, dirt, wear and tear, surface deformities, etc very quickly.
You use it by clicking and holding where you want the decal, then dragging decides the size and rotation of the decal. (Modifiers while dragging like shift will lock it to specific angles)

I agree. This would definitely be a nice feature to have. I don’t think Photoshop has this. Would definitely give Krita a huge advantage as this feature is used a lot by 3d artists.

It just reminder me of this feature on Blender, where you use an external 2D application to texture draw on (an UV mapped) model.

It wouldn’t be far fetched to think of Krita having an Anchored brush dab, to texture or decal models similar to how 3D texturing programs already does it.

Absolutely. Didn’t know that was possible from Blender to Krita. Thanks for the post :slightly_smiling_face:
