So, I thought I’d sit in front of the TV and play around with my old Android tablet with it’s cheap stylus. I grabbed a reference off of Daily Drawing Challenge and fumbled around with it at basically thumbnail size because the top 1/3 of the tablet’s screen is dead to touch Lol. Anyway… this is what I ended up with after about an hour. The best part about it was using a cool cross-hatch brush for his whiskers. ![]()
The painting is rather good for a no. ![]()
Wondering how you would do with an Android tablet that’s not kinda busted. ![]()

Wow, that is an awesome portrait. It proves that old saying that it’s not the tools, it’s the craftsman.
Nice work. Try to get one new with a good stylus. We want to see your work with a good one. Samsung, oneplus, huawei, xp pen..
@Selk Thank you. I do have a nice big XP-Pen tablet in my workshop that I use for artwork. I was just playing around with a tablet I have in the house for social media. It’s mostly just that I’m not used to the differences in software, but a big chunk of the screen being dead was pretty annoying ![]()
@sooz What a compliment! ![]()
@CrazyCatBird Thank you Catbird! You know… I have been thinking about getting an Android all-in-one screen tablet, like XP-Pen’s Magic Drawing Pad. (Windows IOS all-in-one screen tablets are out of control expensive). Currently, I have a desktop setup in my workshop where I do all my artwork. It’s a separate building from the house. But there are times when I would like to paint plein air on vacations or just sit in my recliner at home and doodle in the evenings… so I just may do it! ![]()
You would think with all the competition out there, they would try to be more competitive with their prices, but no. Just like Bell and Rogers here in Canada, corporate greed runs rampant.
My wife has a saying, “pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered”.
Don’t think it’s that expensive, the Chuwi Hi10 Max packed with the pencil is €354 here in Spain.
My coworker has one, and I was able to try it out. It’s a complete computer, and the pen works great. It has the typical wavy diagonal lines of all non-EMR (wacom/samsung) or Apple pencils. But it can be solved with a stabilizer that all programs usually have.
In the future, I might buy one. When there’s more competition and prices drop and power increases. ![]()
I like it!!
