One of the things that would be wonderful to be possible to automate are the timing charts. If traditional animation is a slow process, making complex timing charts can be tedious, specially if there are lot’s of frames or inbetweens.
As it is mostly a mathematical process, I was thinking if it would interesting to develop kind of a ‘timing chart assistant’ that would work more or less this way:
- the user defines the first and the last frame;
- the user defines if she/he wants even spacings or ease ins/ease outs;
- the assistant would create a chart based on the inputs.
(important: I’m talking about a basic chart, I’m not talking about inbetweening automatic interpolations like in Flash or similar vector softwares)
The chart could be linear (as it is most common) our could have the shape of the arc of action.
I drew the type of charts I’m talking about and they would work as any other assistant.
Is it too far fetched or does it make sense?
