Another noob calligraphy question

Device: XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro with vendor-supplied linux driver
System: openSUSE Tumbleweed, Krita from repo v4.4.8, ryzen 7 CPU, nvidia GPU

Howdy, I cain’t draw for crap but I’m not bad with lettering, to which end I’d like to use the tilt function of my tablet for lettering. I searched before I posted and found that the issues with the calligraphy tool ar already known, and frankly I’m not sure a separate tool is necessary.

What I do need is a “brush” where the tilt works opposite the way it would when emulating a pencil used for shading. See, the pencil shoul produce a broad line perpendicular to the direction of the pen, a narrow line in line with the pen. To emulate a broad nib, it should be the opposite. Can anyone tell me how to set that up, or modify an existing brush in that way? With the calligraphy tool, I can set a fixed angle, but what I’d like is a tilt-sensitive angle such that when I hold the pen in a natural position (as a rightey), if you consider the top of the page northm, then the line I make to the northeast is narrow, and the line I make to the southeast is broad. And if I hold the pen in a less-natural position with my wrist rotated a bit, I can make a narrow line either vertically or horizontally without changing my tool. Maybe the experienced digital artist is thinking, “Why not just change the tool?” but as an amateur I’m thinking, “getting my head into this zone is hard enough so try not to do anything to interrupt it.”

Hopefully I’ve explained that clearly because in similar posts I found in search, it seams some well-meaning folks didn’t quite understand the question. And at this stage I’m software-agnostic; if this can be done more easily in another app I’ll try it. (That said, if you’re thinking of inkscape, it’s an older version, alas.)

EDIT: Found a Mypaint that seems to have the right idea (from “dirty” brush pack by AnTi).

 Hello and welcome to the forum @Geoffrey_Fagan!

Well, then I don’t need to suggest this bundle to you. But maybe the following resources I picked out for you are something for you. I guess at least you could find different presets that you like. But this is of course a matter of taste, and you may have completely different ideas.
The first three bundles you can find in @Fizzyflower’s ULTIMATE MyPaint Brush Collection, they are the bundles: Rudluff (Inking Brushes), TONE and Kaerhon.
Furthermore, you might like ‘Hushcoil’s’ ‘HC_Pen&Pencil’ bundle out of Hushcoil’s 9in1-bundle-collection featured on DA ‘280 Krita brushes! ~2018 update~’
which you can download here, a collection he previously started under the name/alias ‘Cestarian’ as ‘Cool Krita Brushes’ here., or Mojo Ink, from the ‘Mojo brush bundles for cartoonists’

Cool, I’ll check 'em out. Thanks Michelist,

Maybe Wolthera’s ‘Inking Pack for Krita’ is also one for your needs?
