Hi everyone! I know it’s kind of late in the month to make an April challenge, so I decided to make it extend through May. And anyone that sees it late might still make the deadline. @Corentin, @Smeep and @WingedWarrior I am so glad you participated in my last challenge and hope you are interested in this one!!
Here’s the challenge:
Bloom & Build
This April, we aren’t just planting gardens; we’re growing cities. Your challenge is to design a structure, room, or entire landscape where the architecture is directly inspired by a specific flower.
Some Ideas:
The Cottage (Beginner): Focus on a single small home. (Example: A tiny cottage shaped like a fallen Tulip, using the stem as a chimney).
The Interior (Intermediate): Design a room inside a floral building. (Example: A grand ballroom inside a Rose, where the “walls” are giant velvet petals).
The Metropolis (Advanced): A wide-angle landscape of an entire city. (Example: Skyscraper “vines” growing toward the sun with Sunflower solar panels).
Hey @BadGirl2023 , I just wanted to let you know I have an entry! Not quite finished, and I have a full day with siblings tomorrow, but I’ll be able to post something in time for sure. I’ll be there!!
The Floral Drawing Room
I know it’s leaning more into fixtures than architecture… but hopefully it satisfies the guidelines. I wound up incorporating four different flower types: irises for the chairs, poppy for the table, bluebells for the cups and a daffodil (or jonquil ) for the ceiling fan and light. A very fun challenge!
That is such a cool idea, @WingedWarrior! I never would have thought of the rose’s layered petals for a tiered fountain. It’s really a perfect match. Well done!
I have to say, I love those furniture designs! The ceiling fan is just so great, never made that association of shape with that flower before And the Iris chairs even look like a comfy design. Nice use of the prompt!
