Is it possible to give the Bezier tool or Krita in general an option to create a Vector-layer when working on and Paint-layer?
Some times I want to make a quick editable selection and the Bezier tool would be perfect for that; But I keep on forgeting to add a vector layer again and again, and it makes the tool just unusable for me.
“Yeah”, you may say, “just don’t forget to add a Vector-layer before hand”, how ever when zoned in on the work flow, it is basically impossible for me to rember that.
My brain sees Vector tool, and expects it to work that way. It’s hard to express how big of a problem that is sadly.
How it would work:
Basically, it would be a toggle option in either the Bezier tool or Krita settings.
If activated it checks for the selected layer type, and if it isn’t a Vector Layer, it will create one above the current selected layer (after a curve has been drawn).
It will then switch selection to the currently created Vector layer and store the curve there.
It will not create aditional Layers if it is a vector layer type.
In my workflow this would enable me to just use the Bezier tool, instead of using it and then being frustrated again to have wasted my time because I forgot to add a vector layer.
In PhotoShop, from what I remember, Vectors are in their own layers by default.
And if you jump in to the vector tool, PS will automatically store it there in a default layer. It makes for a simple and no-brainer “just use it tool” in PS.
Hope that in krita it can become also a “just use it”-tool.
But the bézier tool isn’t only a vector tool. You can use it on a raster layer using raster brushes.
There are vector-only tools. When using these, Krita creates a vector layer automatically (though it would be cool if it created them over the layer you’re using and not at the full top). So Krita not creating a vector layer when using the bézier tool is actually quite logical.
Maybe making a twin bézier tool (one being for vector, the other for raster) would work better?
(also, if you create a feature request, you can give yourself a vote )
Yeah, that’s why there should be a twin version of the bézier tool. Heck, maybe a lot more vector tools.
I actually don’t know how, but I didn’t read that part the right way :
Still, with how things are going, more and more are asking for vector options in Krita, as working between two software can be a pain. Maybe there should be a separate toolbox for it?
Also, yes maybe.
From my experience the best vector program was and is Adobe Illustrator.
The path too works great, you can ctrl-z while making a path.
The vector adjusting through the “wedge” tool works great.
White and black arror, for moving points and whole shapes respectivly,
and the path-finder.
What more would an artist need?
But, since development time is limited and spread thin, I personally want to just have some simpler functionality improvements.
