I am in love with this fantastic app since mounth now. So I am starting to point little things that would lead it over perfection in my point of view.
I am sorry if that look like an unimportant interface detail.
If you select any tool but brush tool, the eraser, brush settings or brush selector are unclicables.
Maybe I am alone in this case, but it look like an unnecessary precaution to me.
I think having to reselect brush tool before selecting the brush you need is just a useless clic.
If this kind of “security” is usefull to some peoples maybe it could be optional.
I think it should be more confortable to auto-switch to the brushtool if you clic on the brush selector, the eraser or any brush setting (brush size/opacity etc…).
That’s just my point of view and I am curious about your opinions.

Besides brushes and erasers, brush presets can be applied to tools that draw lines: line, poly line, rectangle, ellipse, multi-brush and others.
The color selection interacts with the fill tools.
Resetting the user to “brush tool” on each click seems convenient only in a specific workflow, but in a generalized workflow it would have the opposite irritating effect. If the keyboard is involved in drawing, the “B” key becomes habitual over time.
On the other side, for those who work only with a screen tablet or android, perhaps the proposed option will be practical.

You’re right. I didn’t mind that there were more tools using brush settings.
Like most function, this one has a good reason to exist.
This still could be an optional enhancement to my specific workflow.
Late to this thread but honestly would love this to automatically switch to a brush tool via just clicking the brush i want to use.
Switching from move/selection/ any non brush tool back to brush you were using is a lot more convenient then having to go to the brush tool icon and THEN to the brush i wanna use. Without having to use a keyboard shortcut to accomplish the same action.
I’m not saying that this should be the default for those who got used to Krita’s way of drawing, but having the options in settings or something would be great.
I also just want to say that there is no “one right way” for someones workflow.That extra click disrupts my workflow a lot because once you get used to something that habit is hard to break. And it’ll be harder for anyone coming over from Sai or Clip because that’s how it works in both programs.
just a quick edit to say that i’m not saying that Krita has to work this way because other programs do, but people’s workflows are based on what their program of choice allows. So having this option would make it easier to change over especially cuz we have to learn a whole new program, it would be most helpful to continuing to use Krita
