This is some of the best pencil style shading that I have seen.
Thank you so much! That’s a huge compliment
I started feeling burnt out for a bit, but this one was engaging enough to get me back into the mood of doing this.
This one was much easier for me than the rest (with the exception of plates 1 and 2). The shading was fairly simple.
I’ll be skipping plate 18 because I finished it early. It’s the top image in this post.
Hey there just wanna say these are some amazing shading I see, looks marble like, and some place with reflected light is really on point I think
. Do you perhaps following a class/tutorial/book? Looks very technical ![]()
( Info from Wikipedia… The Charles Bargue Drawing Course is used by many academies and ateliers which focus on Classical Realism. Among the artists whose work is based on the study of Bargue’s plate work are Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh, who copied the complete set in 1880/1881, and (at least a part of it) again in 1890. )
You can buy a copy, you just have to do a search. I bought an abbreviated version on Google Play Books, which was affordable. Done libraries might even have a copy to borrow.
Thank you for the info
.
OP sketch looks really clean, I wonder if the cross reference lines were the only guides used. Sorry if this was explained before, been trying to learn a more detailed shading with better plane edges and gradient myself ![]()
See post #2 above as to what brushes were used.
Below is one of the plates from that book so you can get an idea:
Copying the images from the book is designed to encourage careful observation.
Thank you! I use his guidelines as CrazyCatBird showed in the image, but I don’t trace or measure
I’m really liking your shading method with these.
thanks!
Plate 24 doesn’t have any guidelines provided, so I’m showing the process of how I made my own.
Its not letting me put the images in order, so image 3 comes before 2
looks great!
