BeeRef - Open Source Reference Image Viewer (version 0.3.3)

Not sure if that’s a problem with libc or something like that? Usually builds done on an older OS version work on newer versions, but not the other way around. Unless it’s some other runtime dependency that’s mismatched.

I’ve also been using it for quite a while now instead of the more well-known ones and it’s really cool, plus linux/windows platforms support ! Thx !

Yeah, I was always trying to build on the oldest system available. These packages are built on Github and using the same build instructions and I’m assuming the same basic setup, so I don’t know what exactly the differences are. But it’s no trouble providing both builds for me, even if it would be a bit more streamlined with less download options.

Thanks for the update. I’m starting to use BeeRef more over PureRef.

Are you planning to implement some antialiasing or smoothing for showing the images? It sometimes produces very visible ringing, especially when screentones are used in the image.

this looks savage! cant wait to see how well it works!

For me on debian 12 the linux executable segfaults.

Hi @Rebecca

I love BeeRef and I got it to work on my system. The only question I have is if it is possible to map a different key or shortcut to moving the window. On my system, I can move the BeeRef window if the title bar is active, and when I have a physical keyboard present, and it does not let me configure shortcuts to move the window, such as Ctrl+Left Click or just Right Click. I don’t use a fully physical keyboard, just a keyboard on my phone, which is why multiple modifiers, such as Ctrl+Alt or Ctrl+Shift do not work on my system.

Thank you for your time and work!

There’s now a second Linux executable (built on a newer version of Ubuntu) which fixed a segmentation fault for someone else above.

Is BeeRef a “fork” of PureRef as someone on your github claimed? Just wondering. (I don’t think that it is, btw)

I’m planning on trying it out on my Windows 10 machine soon. Looks awesome! :+1:

Lol, that GH issue is a saddest trolling attempt I’ve seen. Someone is either butthurt about something or clueless.

EDIT: By that logic, every text editor out there should credit Notepad, or something like that.

I see. I’ll think about alternatives.

I mean, they already put “fork” in quotation marks. Obviously PureRef was the inspiration and also snooped around in their file format a bit, but otherwise I have no idea how their code works or looks. Some things are also just convergent evolution. I’ve stopped looking at PureRef pretty early on and I’ve already forgotten a lot about it.

Well, great minds think alike. Your version of a reference board is excellent! :+1: :+1:

Who the hell are these people ? And I thought I had issues with people annoying me.

 The great minds thinking alike? I was quoting a saying that I grew up with.

oh yes, that happens to most black and white images with line art when scaling down you just need to give it smooth scaling instead of fast scalling

Didn’t know the original author is still active.

Could you check your SQL query performance?

I’ve changed it, thanks. This way, you can even turn the LEFT join into a RIGHT join. Though for me, the slowest bit is always Qt processing the image data.
