Day 27. Letting go / freedom. Every day this heron flies to the shore and rescues fish stranded in the shallows. One after another. I once saw a heron that refused to eat the bread we were handing out to the birds. Instead, he broke it up and tossed it into the nearby pond. I couldn’t help but watch him as the ducks and geese gobbled up the bread I spread out on the ground in front of me. He stood motionless by the pond. Until all of the sudden he snapped something up out of the water. Turned out he used the bread to fish for his meal. Seriously underestimated creatures they are.
