Yeah, I totally get what you mean about the shadow — that bit was tricky, since the reference photo cut off right there, so I kind of had to guess how it would fall on the corner of the eye. But in the end, I actually like the way it turned out. Just think of it as… a caudal fin .

Saw this in your sketchbook. How wonderful. It’s exactly the kind of skill and detail that I wish I had. Perhaps one day, who knows?

No, the goal here is to practice using color, so I’m using references, but indirectly I’ve learned how light works on skin. Here’s the reference — since I’m looking at it on a second screen, the eye isn’t exactly the same.
