Bread-on-toast's ocs and concept art sketchbook

Hi. I’m trying to find advice on anatomy and shading skills, those being the two things I’m not so good at with art. Feel free to point out anything I may need to change with my art. ( I haven’t been drawing for that long…) I’ll also be posting my ocs on here as well as concept art for my own comics and characters. I also really like Kirby games… so I may be posting some fan-art pieces of that too…

Edit: added a sketch on cause why not.

The concept for what I wanted to make for my profile picture for this platform… but I had to change a few things, and make it smaller… this was only the sketch, to see what I thought looked best… this was also the design I chose.

A sketch for an art piece I thought I’d start. This is an oc that was made to look like a stuffed toy rabbit. I’ll post the drawing midway through the process and I’ll also post the finished product too. You can copy the oc if you want to. Just don’t put it through ai or anything… not that I think anyone will though.

Here is the half finished picture:

I had to take a picture with my phone because it wouldn’t let me upload it onto the post on my laptop because “the file was too big” so I’m sorry if it doesn’t look that good in the picture…

Pictures and videos for the forum have two restrictions, their size must be below 3 MB and their dimensions below 9 mega-pixels, so 3000 by 3000 pixels for instance, important is the result below 9 MP. So if your picture exceeds the dimensions you can reduce the dimensions via Image > Scale Image To New Size then export your picture via File > Export and then, after exporting, restore the original size via Edit > Undo Ctrl+Z.
If the dimensions are in the accepted range but the file size of the exported file is too big, you can try to export it into a different format to reduce their size. For instance, instead of exporting it as PNG export it into JPEG/JPG, or even smaller but with usually better quality into WEBP, but if optimizing the file format isn’t enough, you have to reduce the dimensions too.

Thanks for the advice! I kinda didn’t know what the size limit was for posting images on here so that’s really helpful! (I’m fairly new here…)

Work in progress art, still need to do the backround but I want people to tell me if there’s anything I need to improve on. I’ve been trying to practice shading sometimes and I think I’m slowly improving.

This is an oc I made 2 years ago. I spent ages drawing it. Also sorry I haven’t posted the finished artwork for the previous artwork yet. I easily get distracted, but I promise I will post that one soon.

Sorry it took me so long to post the finished product for the this art… I kept putting it off again and again. But I have finally finished it! Please can people post their opinions on this art and tell me if there is anything that I’d need to improve.

I thought it’d be fun to draw what I normally find myself doodling when I’m bored and putting it in an ordered list of the six things I doodle more often than most. For the third one, I sometimes find myself testing brushes I’ve never used before, and I see what I think of the outcome! Also sorry in advance if my handwriting is hard to read…

Just in case no-one can read my handwriting, the first label says “oc (most drawn oc)”

the second one says “heart biscuit (or cookie if you’re american)” (btw I’m English)

the third one says “experimenting with new brush”

the fourth one says “genshin impact hydro slime”

and the fifth one says “kirby sketch”

also the first drawing is only a sketch.

Splatoon fanart, I haven’t posted for a while cause I’m going through a phase of art block. If I should do a backround? I honestly don’t know…

It seems you haven’t read the rules of our monthly challenge so far, at least you are acting as if you don’t know about them:

You already have posted your picture in this moths running challenge. →
The problem is that you can put your above posted picture into the “August 2026 Art Challenge – WIP and Discussion Thread” topic, but as long as the challenge isn’t over and the winner isn’t found, you are not allowed posting it anywhere else, so currently it is not allowed here, at least not if you do not pull your entry from the challenge.
But you shouldn’t withdraw from the challenge, that would be sad, your picture looks good and really should participate in the challenge.

So, here my suggestion is that you delete the above posting Bread-on-toast's ocs and concept art sketchbook - #14 by Bread-on-toast from there and post it instead in the “August 2026 Art Challenge – WIP and Discussion Thread”.

And because you repeated that issue also in this topic: https://krita-artists.org/t/my-august-2026-art-challenge-entry-posted-in-finished-artworks-for-people-to-see/188711 you have the same options there. So, pull it now and post it in the callenges WIP topic: August 2026 Art Challenge – WIP and Discussion Thread, or after the challenge winner is found in a new topic to create, but right now both of your postings are against the rules.

I’m REALLY sorry! I deleted the post in this sketchbook and I will try to avoid doing it again. I didn’t know about that rule beforehand… but now I do I will keep it in mind when posting. I’ll repost AFTER the August Challenge is over. I didn’t mean to violate the rules.

I promise I didn’t know about this. I’m genuinely really really sorry for violating the rules and I’ll be careful to read them properly so I know what I can and can’t do.

No need to be sorry, that happens nearly every month, so you were for sure not the last who did it.
But it may remind you to read anything in the future not that you will sign to work for free in the future.

Kirby doodles I did for fun.

I’m currently designing my own RPG bosses that AREN’T actually going to go in a game, as much as I’d like them to… I’m terrible at coding…

I’m not going to share them in this post rn but it’s a work in progress… and I’m still a little shy to share the designs. One of the designs is a little disturbing, but not NSFW ( I also covered the disturbing bit with an extra layer). Basically all it is is just things getting possessed by the main enemies of the game… But not in a 12+ way. I also put labels pointing to different aspects of the designs. And pre designs as well. But I kinda feel shy displaying the names because that’s still being decided rn and some of them are temporary… so I may post that at some point… or not… depends how I feel.

Fixing art from 2 years ago. Well, maybe not “fixing”, but more “redoing”… this is a WIP of my art also, with the art how it was before with the opacity turned down in the top right corner. So I guess this shows how much I’ve improved… and how I didn’t used to use guidelines… (it’s very hard to see the old art cause the opacity is really low…)
