brush is lagging/glitching?

having issues with the brush. it’s sort of twitching around? idk how to explain. so basically when you move it around the screen the cursor is jumping around but i’m moving it in a straight line.

don’t think it['s a issue with my device bc everything else works fine except this. also when i just use my mouse the problems still there.

also it is visibly twitching by a lot so i know this isn’t just me not being able to draw a line.

using krita v 4.4.1

Hello and welcome to the forum

Which graphics tablet are you using?
In the video when you switch to the Pan Tool, it seems to have smooth movement. Is that the case?

When you say “… everything else works fine except this.”, do you mean that other painting/drawing applications do not have this problem but krita does? Or do you mean something else?

In the video, you’re not producing a painted line. Is this because you’re not touching the tablet with the stylus or because the brush isn’t painting?

In the Brush Presets docker, the Basic-6 Details icon has a small marker on it to indicate that its characteristics have been changed from the default behaviour. What changes did you make to it? Can you try again after a restart.

Can you make and post a sketch like this:
Red is Basic-6 Details with a stylus and Blue is Basic-2 Opacity with a stylus.
Green is Basic-2 opacity with a mouse.

tablet is xp pen deco pro

yes only the freehand brush tool is giving issues.

yes i mean only krita has this problem.

i didn’t make a painted line because i wasn’t touching the tablet. this is because the lines come out normal it’s just the cursor with issues.

the change i made was to the size of the brush.

i found that this happens when I draw on multiple documents at once. It also happens when I use just one document but it takes a lot longer. Like maybe one or two hours on a singular document and instantly when using 2 or more documents.

What steps do you take to reproduce this cursor issue? I filed a bug earlier 429790 – Brush outline renders in a discrete "snapped" manner that is similar to this but initially I didn’t think it was the same, but now that you mentioned multiple documents, I suspect it is.

I included exact steps in the bug report to reproduce my issue, can you try it and see if you can get it, and if you do, is it the same issue you’re describing?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. Start Krita
  2. Press Ctrl+N for a new document, any document size will do.
  3. Press “1” to set zoom to 100% of the current document
  4. Move your cursor around and observe where/how the brush outline renders
  5. Press Ctrl+N for a new document again. This time make it significantly larger than the viewport’s size (eg A3 300ppi, maybe A3 600ppi if you have an outlandishly large monitor)
  6. Ctrl+Tab to switch back to the previous document
  7. Move your cursor around and observe where/how the brush outline renders

yeah i got a result and it’s the exact same issue i described.

A similar bug was reported and fixed at the end of September:

This will be interesting.
