Hey, I no longer own a display tablet, but I used to have a Kamvas Pro 16 4K and it was very blurry and laggy. So I’m inclined to say this is expected.
Can you do the following test however?
Can you use your tablet as an active area for the primary monitor instead? This way we can check if it’s an input lag issue, or a display lag issue. This should be especially visible if your monitor is higher refresh rate than 60 Hz. So try to draw this way while having Krita on the monitor instead of the tablet.
When I did this test with my Kamvas, it was super smooth, meaning it was the fault of the tablet screen
On the other hand, if the lag is the same, then we should debug further what’s wrong, because it should not lag at all on a wired connection.
Aaaaannnddddd yup. Making the the workspace on the other monitor eliminated the lag completely. This is… frustrating. But hey ive lived with it, i can continue to live with it.
So is it an issue with the Huion in all environments? Or is it a Linux specific issue, would be my next question.
No, I think this is an issue with the device. I was using my Huion on Windows 11. Honestly, I was disappointed that a device that costs an arm and a leg would perform this poorly (mine costed 820 EUR or so…).
I have no experience with Wacom, which would probably cost double of that , so I can’t comment on other devices.
Since then, I have switched to Huion Giano for a mere 200 EUR and couldn’t be happier than that. It’s buttery smooth and I can use my large monitor at 4K 144Hz which feels amazing.
