No, plugins don’t have the access needed to make it work.
I’m not seeing any artifacts in the pipeline of the merge request, should I just try to build it myself with tenzin’s merge request? I come more from the artist side and don’t know a lot about navigating git repos and have never used gitlab before testing this out.
EDIT: @tenzindraws was right I tried clicking it then and then instead of clicking where it says display like I was I clicked off to the side this time and tried again and this time it shows me the menu. I guess if you try to click where it says display thinking the text was just invisible like I did it stays empty.
waiting for this to be a thing ![]()
Any updates on this?
The feature will not be reviewed until maybe Krita 6.1 and just recently Krita 6.0.1 was released so take that as you will. In the meantime the only thing we can do is wait or use the appimage from the merge request
I see. I usually use nightly unstable build. I am wishing it gets implemented!
it will feel alot more fun for me when drawing and switching brushes.
Amazing! Wanted to thank you for making this.
I love Krita, but I dropped it a while ago. Came her today in order to see if brush stroke preview was a thing yet. Krita’s current brush tool icons slow me down by a few minutes EVERY time I draw. I literally bought CSP EX after Krita (even though I think CSP has an inferior animation interface) because of how much time brush stroke previews save me during the process. I do love Krita! I’ve even tried to contribute to the code at a previous point. But it looks like I’ll be checking in again next year to see if this gets picked up. Big thanks @tenzindraws !
I saw the MR and I was wondering if there is any update on this. The Merge request is a bit stale. I think it would be better if you can talk to devs on chat to take it forward
May this feature gets added soon ![]()
@tenzindraws , are there news about your Merge Request?
This wonderful feature would be so useful.. ![]()
This is REALLY awesome
is there any way to get this?
yes and we are waiting for mr
Your first option could be building it from source from the previously linked merge request.
Second option, you could download my custom build of Krita that has this feature among many others that make it more friendly to Photoshop/CSP users. I’ve been using the Windows build for months and it’s been stable enough to be my main painting program.
If you want to try it out, I recommend backing up your AppData/Roaming/krita directory which has your brushes, plugins, etc. if you’re coming from Krita 5.3 since my build is based on Krita 5.2.14. That way you can load your backup if you decide to go back to krita 5.3. I haven’t tested the Linux appimage extensively so proceed with caution.
Windows build:
https://github.com/10zindraws/Krita-Revamp/releases/download/revamp-v1.7.1/krita-revamp-1.7.1-setup.exe
Linux build:
https://github.com/10zindraws/Krita-Revamp/releases/download/revamp-v1.7.1/krita-revamp-1.7.1-setup.AppImage
If you don’t trust my build you can inspect the diffs and build it from source yourself
My favorite feature besides brush stroke previews is being able to double-click a brush to open the brush editor rather than having to press a keyboard shortcut. There’s also the ability to make clipping masks and many other QoLs.
Here’s the repo for more info:
Your third option is to keep waiting. If I were to add every feature I wanted and have them all be merged, I would probably be working more on Krita itself rather than using it to paint so I’m not bothering the devs about this merge request, they probably have a lot on their plates already.
Thank you! I will try the 2nd option out. This feature is really good, Imma switch from CSP to krita as this get merged with main. hope they do it as soon as they can. thank you for making this feature.
No problem, glad to see other people also wanting this feature. Feel free to ask any questions if anything in my build confuses you, there’s quite a lot of changes in there. Also, try dragging around your brushes to re-order them, that’s another key feature I forgot to mention
I am using it right now and this is SO GOOD, it feels more like Clip studio now. i really loved the UI tweaks you did in here and the brushes section FINALLY feels normal (to me). i can see myself ditching clip studio paint now as this gets into main because the only reason i wasn’t switching was the text and comic tool
??
Not the same thing. Wrong place to post this
It seems Wolthera van Hövell commented on the MR
