Inspired by the storeroom of scripts thread. The rule is: Use only one brush and show what it can do. This can be a useful reference for those that want to know what each brush does and the effect it produces. My interest is in the area of concept art and right now it’s just mostly lines. I’m planning to get into painting down the road and hopefully one day compile a PDF showing the various usage of Krita’s brushes.
Having the right brush can actually make things much easier for you. The final head (bottom-right) would be much harder and longer to achieve with any other type of brush. SK-11 G Soft-Thin TILT is my go-to brush for roughing things out as quickly as possible (roughly under 20 seconds each to give some perspective). Perfect for gesture and thinking big. I adjust the brush size accordingly and sketch while the Canvas is zoomed out a bit.
Nice to see your sketches with notes and feedback. I take into account always the users feedback to create future brushes. You are going to enjoy the video today that comes with a pdf included for a NEW bundle.
Trying to flesh out another section for the manual, I needed an example to show the importance of using references and did another quick test with the SK-11 G Soft-Thin TILT.
I needed a brush for quick value study but there isn’t one that I really like so I studied an existent one and created a custom brush tip and a few minor tweak and I got this. Will upload the brush later. This test was executed with just that one brush.
A few tests before I head off and I couldn’t believe my eyes when this last one was executed. They were all just doodles testing out the brushes and I must say having the right brush does make it a lot easier to achieve certain looks. I’m not even that good at shading yet and here with this brush I just made things up as I go.
Yep, sorry. It is found here, there you have to scroll down to “download & install” and use the link provided to download the bundle containing that particular brush.
